Geographic Information System (GIS) Section
The GIS Section provides coordination for the Department's overall Asset Management Program development. Web Services and GIS Management Services are offered by the section. The TDOT Web Site and the TDOT Map Center are operated and maintained by the section.
Operating criteria is geared toward compliance with the current, and governing Strategic Plan for GIS development.
The Department has a GIS/Data Sharing Committee that meets nearly every month to discuss GIS, data sharing, and other information services technology. Anyone is welcome to attend. Contact Ron Platt at 791-4001 x122 or email Ron Platt for information on meeting dates.
The GIS Section maintains a close working relationship with the Pima County Technical Services Division of the Pima County Transportation Department. An existing Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) recorded at Docket 11653 Pages 2302-2313 is the formal arrangement although staff routinely shares more than data. Programming, design efforts, and creative planning are common shared tasks. The link to the Pima County Technical Services Division is also the gateway to a large collection of GIS links and related documents.
