Tanque Verde Road Sidewalk Improvement Project: Grant Road To Sabino Canyon Road

Posted: 10/29/2009

On Thursday, October 29, 2009, work crews will begin a sidewalk improvement project on Tanque Verde Road from Grant Road to Sabino Canyon Road. During the three-week-long project, which is being funded through the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA), crews will install new sidewalks, driveways and access ramps. Crews will also remove and replace non-compliant Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) driveways and access ramps.

Crews are scheduled to begin working on the south side of Tanque Verde Road and work from Grant Road to Sabino Canyon Road. Once crews reach Sabino Canyon Road, they will begin working on the north side of Tanque Verde Road west from Sabino Canyon Road to Grant Road. Work hours for the project are 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. To insure the safety of the traveling public and work crews, travel lanes adjacent to where the crews are working will be restricted.

The traveling public can expect delays when driving, bicycling or walking in this work area. Business access will be maintained. For your safety, please observe all traffic control signage, message boards, and obey reduced speed limits. Watch for construction personnel and equipment in the work zone.

The voter-approved, $2.1 billion RTA plan will be implemented through 2026. Details about the full plan are available at http://www.rtamobility.com/. The RTA has a nine-member board with representatives from local, state and tribal governments. While funded through the RTA, the above projects will be managed by TDOT.
