Columbus Boulevard Corridor Pedestrian Path Transportation Enhancement Grant

Project Happenings

Open house announcement (coming soon)

Background

In 2007, the City of Tucson was awarded a Transportation Enhancement grant to create an asphalt pathway along the east side of Columbus Boulevard from Timrod Street to 22nd Street (approx. 3000’). The pathway would improve pedestrian connections along Columbus linking residents to Lineweaver Elementary School, churches, bus stops, friend’s homes, and other amenities. Currently, pedestrians must walk along the street or in the dirt right-of-way.

The project budget is $223,400. During the design phase the Department of Transportation will be hosting a public meeting to gather input from residents about final design plans. Please attend our public meeting on October 1, 2009 at Lineweaver Elementary School cafeteria at 6:00 pm to share your comments.
